A previously unreleased Prince album is set to be released next year on Tidal.

Prince’s estate has been in a big legal battle with Tidal after the two parties sued each other in 2016 over the rights to stream the pop icon’s unreleased music. Tidal released Prince’s whole work but Prince’s estate claimed that they had only been given permission to stream the hit “Hit n Run Phase One” for three months.

It looks as if the legal battle has finally come to an end now that Tidal has announced it will be releasing a new Prince album in 2019.
“I’m very pleased this is resolved, and we get to honor the relationship between Prince and Tidal with this album. We look forward to fans hearing the new music and experiencing the genius of Prince”, said Troy Carter, the entertainment adviser of Prince’s estate.
The album will be exclusively streamed by Tidal before it is followed by a physical release after 14 days.
Tidal is working on the album with rapper, Jay-Z who says that the album will: “continue to respect and honor Prince’s enduring legacy”.

“Our only goal is to share Prince’s music with his fans as he wanted,” he said. “After a thoughtful and honest conversation with him, he chose TIDAL as his partner for ‘HITnRUN Phase One’ and ‘HITnRUN Phase Two’, and we will continue to respect and honor Prince’s enduring legacy and wishes with this new collection.”
