TikTok has completely changed the way we approach music in the past few years and introduced us to many new songs and artists. The social media platform decided to honor them by unveiling their annual “Year on TikTok” list, led by the likes of Selena Gomez, Natalie Jane, and Ice Space.
Adam Presser, TikTok’s head of operations, described this last as their way to honor some of the standout moments that have happened on TikTok throughout the year.
“It’s a window into stories that have inspired, entertained, and educated over 1 billion people around the world. Thank you for another year of bringing joy to our community and sharing your creativity with us,” said Presser in a press release.
Selena Gomez topped the list of the most popular artists in the United States, and she’s in pretty good company. She’s followed by the rising star Natalie Jane, rapper Ice Space, and pop sensations Meghan Trainor and Ariana Grande.
When it comes to the most popular songs of the year in the U.S., the sped-up version of Justine Skye’s “Collide” took the top spot. FIFTY FIFTY’s “Cupid – Twin Ver – Sped Up Version”, PARTYNEXTDOOR’s “Her Way (Sped Up)”, Toosii’s “Favorite Song – Sped Up”, and “Boy’s a Liar Pt. 2” by PinkPantheress and Ice Spice were right behind.
