TV shows based on beloved movies often fail to find success on the small screen, but Snowpiercer seems to be doing something right. TNT recently announced the renewal of this dystopian show for Season 3, just days ahead of the Season 2 premiere.

Snowpiercer is set in a dystopian future in which the world became a frozen wasteland due to a failed climate-change experiment. The survivors of this natural catastrophe now inhabit a train that travels around the globe and the new class system that emerges tests their survival instincts and sense of self.

TNT’s series serves as the remake of the 2013 film of the same name, directed by the Oscar winner Bong Joon-ho. They’re both based on the French graphic novel Le Transperceneige, which came out all the way back in 1982.

The TV adaptation of Snowpiercer premiered on TNT last year, with Jennifer Connelly, Daveed Diggs, Mickey Sumner, and Alison Wright taking the main roles. According to TNT’s data, the series reached 32 million viewers across TNT’s linear and digital platforms since its premiere, and it’s currently available on both Netflix and HBO Max.
