Joker: Folie à Deux is one of the most highly-anticipated movies coming our way next year, and its director Todd Phillips surprised us with a special treat on Christmas. He shared new images from this highly-anticipated sequel, featuring Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga.

Phillips captioned his recent Instagram post with the words, “Wishing everyone a happy holiday and a beautiful new year. Oct 2024 #Joker2” and shared two new images from the upcoming sequel.

The first shows Phoenix’s Arthur Fleck aka the Joker behind what appears to be a cell window with the number “E258”. The second offers a glimpse of Lady Gaga’s Harley Quinn gazing at Fleck, who is wearing his signature Joker makeup and suit.

Joker: Folie à Deux has been billed as a musical and this genre change was quite a shocker for the fans, but the Oscar-winning composer Hildur Guðnadóttir claims we’ve got nothing to worry about.

“It’s an interesting decision. It’s both logical and also very surprising for me as well as the audience. So far, it’s just been a really beautiful conversation, and I’m really excited to see how it unfolds,” she told Variety.

Joker: Folie à Deux will be released on October 4, 2024, and it will also star Zazie Beetz, Brendan Gleeson, Catherine Keener, Jacob Lofland, and Harry Lawtey.
