Tom Blyth got his big break with the lead role in The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, and he’s gearing up for new creative endeavors. He landed one of the key roles in Michael Winterbottom’s upcoming adaptation of Ernest Hemingway’s A Farewell to Arms.

A Farewell to Arms was originally published in 1929, and it’s remembered as one of the greatest war novels of all time. It became Hemingway’s first best-seller and drew inspiration from the author’s own experiences in the ambulance corps of the Italian Army.

This will mark the third big screen adaptation of A Farewell to Arms, following two films from 1932 and 1957. The iconic novel has also been adapted into a three-part BBC mini-series starring Vanessa Redgrave and George Hamilton, but Winterbottom’s film will mark its first 21st-century adaptation.

The Hemingway Estate gave this adaptation their seal of approval and said that Winterbottom and his team were the right people to bring this story to life.

“Given the chaotic state of the world, it’s hard to think of a better moment to reintroduce his seminal story of love and the devastating effects of war. We deeply appreciate the passion and depth of understanding exhibited by Winterbottom and his team,” reads their official statement.
