Expectations are running high for Tom Holland’s upcoming series The Crowded Room, but it will take a while before we see him again after it’s over. The British actor said he’ll take a year-long break from acting because filming this Apple TV+ drama took a toll on him.

Holland discussed his plans for the future in a recent interview with Extra and revealed that working on The Crowded Room was so difficult that he decided to take a brief sabbatical from acting.

“It was a tough time, for sure. We were exploring certain emotions that I have definitely never experienced before. And then on top of that, being a producer, dealing with the day-to-day problems that come with any film set, just added that extra level of pressure,” he told Extra.

This isn’t the first time Holland openly talked about the mental aspect of this role. He previously told EW that it took him a long time to recover and get back to reality after filming this series.

The Crowded Room will premiere on Apple TV+ on July 28, and it centers on a young man who was involved in a deadly shooting in New York City in 1979. The series also stars Amanda Seyfried, Emmy Rossum, Sasha Lane, Will Chase, Lior Raz, and Laila Robins.
