Tom Petty Boxed Set of Unreleased Music Coming in September

A year after his passing, Tom Petty fans will be able to celebrate his legacy with a new four-CD box set of previously unreleased material. 

With a career spanning over four decades, there’s no doubt that Petty was a prolific musician, releasing tons a materials including 13 albums with the Heartbreakers, three solo outings, and countless covers. This also means that there are a lot of never-before-heard music from his vault.

Petty’s daughter Adria and his wife Dana, with the help of former Heartbreakers Benmont Tench, Mike Campbell and “longtime studio collaborator” Ryan Ulyate, have put together this 60-track collection, which will be released on September 28. Titled American Treasure, it will feature artwork by Shepard Fairey. 

SiriusXM’s Tom Petty Radio broke the news on Tuesday. The set was even previewed on the radio channel, as they played an unreleased song called “Keep a Little Soul” which dates back to 1982. 

Petty died of an accidental overdose on October 2 of last year. 

American Treasure is out September 28.
