Toni Braxton Confirms Her Engagement to Rapper Birdman

It looks like the rumors were true after all. In the past couple of months, there were lots of reports about singer Toni Braxton being engaged to rapper Birdman, but the couple refused to make any comments about the status of their relationship. Now, WE network has decided to make the confirmation for the 50-year-old singer by revealing a teaser trailer of Braxton Family Values in which Braxton says to her family: “I have an announcement to make,” before yelling “I’m engaged!” and showing off a big diamond ring.

Toni Braxton and Birdman first met in 2002 while working together on the song “Baby You Can Do It”. The rumors about the relationship between the two began circulating in June 2016 after they were spotted together at the BET Awards. Although they denied that there is something between them at first, Braxton’s representatives later confirmed the romance.
Birdman will surely have a blessing from Toni’s mother, Evelyn Braxton, who previously praised the 49-year-old rapper in one of her interviews.

“I think he is a nice man,” said Evelyn about Birdman. “I don’t care what others say about him. He is a nice man. He is full of respect…Ever since I’ve been knowing that man, he’s been phenomenal.”

Toni Braxton recently announced that she will release her eighth solo studio album titled Sex & Cigarettes on March 23, 2018, after which she will embark on a tour across North America. This will be her first solo outing since 2010’s Pulse. She previously released a collaborative album with Babyface in 2014 titled Love, Marriage & Divorce.

Birdman, on the other hand, hasn’t put out a solo album since 2009’s Priceless, but could well make up for it in 2018. He has recently announced that he is preparing two albums, Ms. Gladys and From Tha Briks, and that they should be out at some point in this year.
