Eddie Murphy is set to lead Candy Cane Lane and he’ll be in pretty good company. Black-ish star Tracee Ellis Ross is set to star alongside the Oscar-winner in this exciting holiday project.

Candy Cane Lane is Murphy’s first film made under his recently signed three-picture and first-look film deal with Amazon Studios. Plot details are still being kept under wraps, but the project is reportedly based on the childhood holiday experiences of its writer, Kelly Younger.

Amazon’s Jennifer Salke described Murphy as “a legend both in front of and behind the camera” when they signed a deal, saying he consistently delivers entertaining, original stories and characters to audiences around the world and could not be more excited to officially welcome him into the Amazon family.

Candy Cane Lane marks one of the first major projects for Ellis Ross since ABC’s acclaimed sitcom Black-ish went off the air. She spent eight seasons playing the family matriarch Dr. Rainbow “Bow” Johnson, and won a Golden Globe and received five Emmy nominations for her performance.

Ellis Ross most recently guest-starred on an episode of The Kids in the Hall and she’s attached to the upcoming psychological thriller film Cold Copy alongside Bel Powley and Jacob Tremblay.
