“Trial & Error” is Officially Canceled

John Lithgow, Bill Chott, Nicholas D'Agosto, and Krysta Rodriguez in "Trial & Error"

The NBC comedy will not continue to season 3.

After NBC’s option to renew the comedy expired last fall, Warner Bros. shopped a new home for the docu-spoof comedy. While the studio is still open to finding Trail and Error a new home, it has currently been officially cancelled.

Set in the town of East Peck, the series followed a New York attorney named Josh Segal (Nicholas D’Agosto), who relocated to the small and peculiar town of East Peck. The first season featured the defense of Larry Henderson (John Lithgow), a poetry professor accused of killing his wife. The second season saw the addition of Kristin Chenoweth as the season’s main defendant. She played an East Peck grande dame who is put on trial for the murder of her husband. The series also starred Jayma Mays, Sherri Shepherd, Steve Boyer and Amanda Payton.

While never a ratings’ hit, Season 1 scored  an 86 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and after the second season it grew to 91 percent.
