Awards season is in the full swing, even on the other side of the pond, where the European Film Awards took place this weekend. The satirical black comedy Triangle of Sadness was the biggest winner of the night, taking four awards home.

Triangle of Sadness defeated the likes of Corsage and Holy Spider to win the night’s biggest award: European film. Its writer-director Ruben Östlund also won awards for European director and European screenwriter. This movie also won the trophy for the best European actor: Zlatko Buric.

The triumph of Triangle of Sadness at this year’s European Film Awards doesn’t come as a shocker because it won several more awards long before this ceremony. Most notably, it picked up Palme d’Or at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, where it initially premiered back in May.

Triangle of Sadness centers on a fashion model celebrity couple who join a cruise for the super-rich and end up stranded on a deserted island. The film is led by Harris Dickinson and the late Charlbi Dean, with Dolly de Leon, Zlatko Buric, Henrik Dorsin, Vicki Berlin, and Woody Harrelson in supporting roles.

The 35th European Film Awards took place on December 10 at the Harpa Conference and Concert Hall in Reykjavík, Iceland, and you can find the list of winners below.
