Disney+ is giving Turner & Hooch the TV series treatment.

That’s right — the classic 1898 comedy starring Tom Hanks is heading to the small screen.

Not much is known about the forthcoming TV series treatment of the buddy cop comedy film. It is believed to be keeping the premise of the original movie, about a “compulsively neat” police detective and his dog. Scott Turner’s (Hanks) “tidy world goes to the dogs when he’s forced to team up with a drooling slob of a junkyard dog named Hooch.”

Burn Notice and The Gifted creator Matt Nix, who is under an overall deal with 20th Century Fox TV (which is part of Disney TV Studios) is attached to write and executive produce the series.

The film, directed by Roger Spottiswoode was a box office hit, grossing $71 million on a $13 million budget.
