Golden Globe winning actress Peggy Lipton passed away at the age of 72. Her career in Hollywood spans five decades, and she became a household name thanks to the roles on cult shows The Mod Squad and Twin Peaks.

Peggy Lipton started her showbiz career at the age of 15, and found success as a model before deciding to give acting a try. She played guest parts on several hit shows during the ‘60s before landing one of the lead roles on ABC’s crime drama The Mod Squad.

After taking a lengthy break from acting, Lipton returned to our lives as Norma Jennings on Twin Peaks. She accepted David Lynch’s invitation to reprise this role in 2017 revival of this series, and that was her last TV credit.

Lipton was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2004, and lost her battle to this disease 15 years later. Rashida and Kidada Jones, her daughters from marriage to Quincy Jones, shared the tragic news with the public.

“We can’t put all of our feelings into words right now but we will say: Peggy was, and will always be our beacon of light, both in this world and beyond. She will always be a part of us,” reads official statement by Lipton’s daughters.
