Two-Time Oscar Nominee Tom Wilkinson Passed Away at 75

Tom Wilkinson, the two-time Oscar nominee whose career spanned over four decades, passed away at the age of 75. Hollywood bid farewell to the British acting legend, best known for his acclaimed performances in In the Bedroom and Michael Clayton.

Wilkinson’s agent announced the actor’s passing in an official statement, which read, “It is with great sadness that the family of Tom Wilkinson announce that he died suddenly at home on December 30. His wife and family were with him. The family asks for privacy at this time.”

Wilkinson was 75 at the time of his passing, and no cause of death was given. He is survived by his wife Diana Hardcastle and two daughters, Alice and Molly.

Wilkinson started his acting career as a stage actor at London’s West End and won two Laurence Olivier Awards before turning his attention to Hollywood. His rise to prominence kicked off during the 90s after he won a BAFTA for his performance in The Full Monty.

Wilkinson went on to receive two Academy Award nods, for his supporting turns in In the Bedroom and Michael Clayton. He’s also a recipient of one Golden Globe and Primetime Emmy Award for his portrayal of Benjamin Franklin in the HBO limited series John Adams.
