Good news for all Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt fans. Season four of Netflix’ highly acclaimed comedy series will premiere on 30 March on the streaming service. There is a small catch, however. Unlike previous seasons, when all 13 episodes of the season were released on the same day, this time only six episodes will be available.

“We finished filming season three a year ago…we are thrilled to go back tomorrow,” – revealed Jane Krakowski who plays the role of Jacqueline Voorhees on the show. “I also have really good news about our show. Because it’s been so long, we’re going release the first six episodes on May 30th. We’re going to shoot them and get them out as quickly as possible so we don’t have to make our fans and audiences wait so long.”

Netflix didn’t reveal when the rest of the season will be out, saying it will be out later in 2018. Unfortunately, it looks like Netflix is steering away from the practice that we all loved, and that is to release the entire season at once. Ashton Kutcher’s The Ranch also received the same treatment, with both seasons of the show being split into two halves.

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt was initially created by Tina Fey and Robert Carlock for NBC, but the network decided to sell it to Netflix. It stars Ellie Kemper as the titular character, 29-year-old who is trying to adjust to life in New York City. Besides Kemper, the show also stars Jane Krakowski, Carol Kane, and Tituss Burgess. The show has received praise for its writing and cast, being nominated 16 times for Primetime Emmy Awards.
