Adam Sandler’s Uncut Gems is officially a record-breaker.
Multiple outlets confirm that the film from helmers Josh and Benny Safdie has generated a whopping $18.8 million since opening on Wednesday, setting a new box office record for the indie distributor A24.
The film bumped the previous record holder, Midsommar with $11 million.
The suspense thriller is set in New York’s Diamond District follows Sandler who starts as a compulsive gambler attempting to get out of debt. It also stars Lakeith Stanfield, Kevin Garnett, and Idina Menzel.
Critics have awarded the film with a 92% average on Rotten Tomatoes.
