Uzo Aduba Reveals She and Filmmaker Robert Sweeting Got Married Last Year

Orange Is the New Black star Uzo Aduba recently went on Instagram to celebrate her one-year marriage anniversary to filmmaker Robert Sweeting. The post caught her fans and social media followers by surprise, however, as this was the first time they learned about Aduba being wed.

It turns out that Aduba and Sweeting tied the knot last year at a private ceremony in New York but decided to keep it under wraps. The news was officially confirmed by Aduba’s representative in a statement made to The Hollywood Reporter after the actress posted a photo that shows the happy couple on the day of their wedding.

Aduba captioned the photo with a quote from classic rom-com When Harry Met Sally before adding: “I’m so happy my life started last year with you. You’re the best thing that ever happened to me.”

It didn’t take long for congrats to start pouring in from both the fans and her fellow celebs.

Sweeting also acknowledged the anniversary on his Instagram account, sharing a different photo from the wedding while attaching several others that show the couple having fun.

“You are the greatest person I’ve ever known, and I’m proud to be your husband,” he wrote in the caption.

Uzo Aduba is best known for starring as Suzanne “Crazy Eyes” Warren on Orange Is the New Black, winning two Emmy awards for her work on the series. She also added one Emmy Award for her portrayal of Shirley Chisholm in the historical drama Mrs. America.
