Ron Howard’s next film will kick off production next month, and its cast is getting more amazing by the day. The Crown’s Vanessa Kirby and Euphoria’s Sydney Sweeney joined the star-studded ensemble of Howard’s upcoming survival thriller Eden.

Eden was originally announced under the working title Origin of Species, and its production team revealed it “explores the human condition in ways that are unexpected, absurd, humorous, se-y, but above all thrilling and deeply suspenseful.”

Eden is inspired by an unsolved true mystery that unfolded on a remote island in the Galapagos. Howard spent the past 15 years trying to tell this story that “charts the lengths humans will go in pursuit of happiness”, and he finally made it happen after finding the perfect partner in crime in the screenwriter Noah Pink.

The cast of Eden was pretty impressive even before Kirby and Sweeney hopped on board, replacing Alicia Vikander and Daisy Edgar-Jones. Jude Law (Fantastic Beasts), Ana de Armas (Blonde), and Daniel Bruhl (All Quiet on the Western Front) also star.

Production will kick off in late November, but only a small part will actually be filmed at the Galapagos. Cast and crew will spend most of the time in Queensland, Australia, where Howard also filmed his last thriller Thirteen Lives.
