Venom has been described as “perhaps the worst Marvel-derived origin story ever”, but that didn’t stop movie goers from all around the world from falling in love with it. This comic book flick was a huge box office hit, and we’re officially getting more of it.

After months of speculation, Sony finally announced they’re filming a Venom follow-up. Kelly Marcel will be in charge of writing the script, and serving as one of executive producers. We’re yet to find out who’ll direct the sequel, but Ruben Fleischer probably won’t come back since he’s too busy filming Zombieland 2.

Tom Hardy recently revealed he is signed on for two more Venom films, so it’s safe to say he’ll return to the role of Eddie Brock. British actor previously expressed his hope we’ll get to see a R-rated sequel, because he feels the audience is ready for that.

“I think you’ve got the right people for that job if you want to push it because that’s where I’d love to go with it. And I’d love to go through all the Avengers, as well, with him. But that’s above my pay grade,” said Hardy during an interview with MTV.
