Vin Diesel’s “Bloodshot” Will Get Another Theatrical Run

Vin Diesel in "Bloodshot"

Sony had big hopes for Bloodshot when it was initially released. The studio counted on Vin Diesel’s international appeal to help turn the movie into a franchise, and there were even talks about a Valiant shared universe. However, theaters closing due to the COVID-19 pandemic have cut the film’s run after less than a week and the movie only made about $10 million domestically.

Back then, Sony has released it as an early Paid Video on Demand trying to minimize their losses. Now, as theaters in the U.S. and abroad are starting to reopen, the studio decided to give the movie another chance. The movie will be available on the big screens from August 20th.

It remains to be seen if the re-release of Bloodshot will succeed in bringing its total up. It should be noted that some people have already watched it on VOD and there is no guarantee they will want to rewatch it. On the other hand, the movie will be one of the few new ones that will be offered by theaters upon reopening.

Another movie that gets a relaunching is Sonic the Hedgehog which will get a chance to add to its $300 million gross.
