Dodgeball is one of the films responsible for launching Vince Vaughn’s career, and he’s coming back for another round! The sequel of the hit 2000s comedy is in early development at the 20th Century Studios, with Vaughn returning as star and producer.

Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story was released in 2003, and it centered on a group of misfits who enter a Las Vegas dodgeball tournament in the hope they could use the prize money to stop the corporate fitness chain from taking over their local gym.

It’s unclear if Rawson Marshall Thurber, the director of the first film, will return to helm the sequel, but he previously said he’s open to the possibility of working on another Dodgeball project.

“You know what – never say never… I’m really proud of Dodgeball – it’s my first film and something people still really like it seems. I would say never say never, and it would have to be the right take on it. But yeah, maybe,” he told Deadline in 2021.

In addition to Vaughn, Dodgeball also starred Ben Stiller, Christine Taylor, Justin Long, Stephen Root, Alan Tudyk, Joel David Moore, Chris Williams, Missi Pyle, Jason Bateman, and William Shatner, but it’s too early to tell if any of them will return to reprise their roles.
