Viola Davis already has an Oscar, an Emmy, and a Tony under her belt, and she’ll soon be adding another prestigious award to her trophy shelf as she’s set to receive a lifetime achievement award at the upcoming Rome Film Festival.
Antonio Monda, artistic director of the festival, released an official statement announcing the decision and praised Davis’ talent and approach to the acting craft.
“Viola Davis is an extraordinary actress, who has transformed sincerity and dignity into sublime thespian art. It is a great honor for me, and for the Rome Film Fest, to celebrate her formidable talent and deep humanity,” the statement read.
Rome Film Festival will take place between October 17th-27th and the How to Get Away with Murder actress will also participate in a “Close Encounter” session, in which she will discuss her career across film, theatre, and TV.
She’s not the only lifetime achievement award recipient this year – Bill Murray will also be honored in Rome, with director Wes Anderson presenting the award.
