Another classic is coming back to life as a new reboot for Walker, Texas Ranger is in the making. Deadline first reported that the big shoes left by Chuck Norris will be filled by Supernatural‘s Jared Padalecki.

The show is being developed by CBS Television Studios but it is still not sure which network will air it. The original show ran for 9 seasons on CBS and it is one of the options for the new show, but the CW is also talked as a possible home for it.

The original show saw Norris as the titular ranger, fighting crime across texas together with his partner who was played by Clarence Gilyard Jr. The new show will see Walker as a widower and a father of two, returning to fight crimes after years in an undercover mission.

The reboot will be written by Anna Ficke who co-created Being Human on Syfy and shows like Wayward Pines and Valor. Padalecki will also serve as an executive producer along with Dan Lin and Lindsey Liberatore of Rideback and Dan Spilo.
