“WAP” by Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion set several major records since its release, and its chart domination continues. After topping the charts in the U.S., this smash-hit reached no. 1 in the UK, becoming the first female rap collaboration to do so.

“WAP” was released on August 7th, as the lead single from Cardi B’s upcoming sophomore album. Its music video featured cameo appearances from Kylie Jenner, Normani, Rosalía, and more and it immediately created a lot of buzz and became a viral sensation.

This song debuted at no. 1 in the U.S., with the largest opening streaming week for a song in the history of the Billboard Hot 100 chart. It failed to replicate the same success in the UK, where it debuted at no. 4, but it finally managed to top the UK Singles Chart this week.

In addition to becoming the first female hip-hop collaboration at no. 1 in this country, “WAP” is the first chart-topping hit for both artists. It’s also the second female-led single to top the chart this year, following Lady Gaga’s “Rain On Me” feat. Ariana Grande.
