Watch Stranger Thing’s Finn Wolfhard in Trailer for “The Turning”

Mackenzie Davis and Finn Wolfhard in "The Turning"

Finn Wolfhard turns out to be quite the horror specialist. After starring in It and Stranger things, he is leading The Turning, director Floria Sigismondi’s adaptation of 1898’s Henry James’ novella The Turn of the Screw.

Now, the new trailer for the movie shows a nanny, played by Mackenzie Davis, who watches after two creepy kids, played by Wolfhard and Brooklynn Prince in a big estate in Maine. The trailer is full of disturbing imagery such as ghost hands, spiders, crows, and dead fish, heavy breathing and mysterious mists. Then Wolfhard says: “I know what you’re afraid of. Keeping the lights on won’t keep you safe.”

James’ novella was adapted to the screen numerous times in the past, including the 1961 film The Innocents. “I studied what worked in that film, and the atmosphere it created, and how the house became a character, and what we saw and didn’t see,” Sigismondi told Entertainment Weekly. “I also loved how that film made it about the nanny and not just about the things that were happening in the house. So, I really drew upon those things, and modernized it, and made it my own.”

The Turning is set for a January 24 release.
