The trailer for After Life, the latest show from the brilliant mind of Ricky Gervais has just dropped.
The trailer begins with a heartfelt message from a cancer patient to her husband before she dies. She begins: “If you’re watching this then I’m not around anymore but don’t spiral, don’t obsess – keep going.”
This proves hard for Gervais’ character who describes a good day as one where he “doesn’t go around wanting to shove a gun in strangers’ face.” If you’ve seen any of Ricky’s stand-up, you might have him down as a bit of a cynic. In After Life, his character takes cynicism to a whole new level, only being a sympathetic and strangely likable character, we let him get away with it.

The show’s official synopsis reads: “He decides instead to live long enough to punish the world by saying and doing whatever he likes from now on. He thinks it’s like a Super Power – not caring about himself or anyone else – but it turns out to be tricky when everyone is trying to save the nice guy they used to know.”
After Life will be available on Netflix March 8.
