We Have the Runtimes for “Game of Thrones” Final Season

Make sure you set aside 80 minutes of your time on the 19th of May because that’s how long you’re going to need to watch the final episode of Game of Thrones.

The HBO series is ending in the next few months and while withdrawal fears are alive and well, we’re also super excited. Particularly because episodes in the final season are rumoured to be much longer than their predecessors…

Thanks to HBO, we now know exactly how long. And while “much longer” may be a slight exaggeration, we are still extremely glad to receive those extra 20 minutes! Episodes one and two will fit the mould of regular episodes with respective runtimes of 54 and 58 minutes, but episode three is where it starts to get fun…

The third episode in the 6-part season is entitled The Battle of Winterfell and will include the longest battle scene on screen, topping that of Helm’s Deep in Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers. The scene, which is expected to be over 40 minutes long, will make up a large portion of the episodes 88 minutes.

The remaining three episodes will also be feature-length at 78, 80, and 80 minutes respectively.

The final season of Game of Thrones debuts on April 14.
