Wednesday created quite a splash since premiering on Netflix and its viewership numbers perfectly reflect its enormous popularity. The coming-of-age supernatural series set a new major record for an English-language series during its first week on the streaming platform.

Wednesday was watched by a whopping 341.23 million hours in its first week on Netflix, setting a new record in its wake. It became the most-viewed English-language Netflix series in its first week, behind Stranger Things 4 with 335.01 million hours. The all-time record is still held by Squid Game, with 571.8 million hours viewed in its peak week on Netflix.

Wednesday premiered on November 23, and it chronicles Wednesday Addams’ life during her time as a teen attending Nevermore Academy. In addition to Jenna Ortega in the titular role, the show also stars Gwendoline Christie, Christina Ricci, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzmán, and Fred Armisen.

Netflix is yet to confirm the show’s renewal, but the co-showrunner Miles Millar told Variety that they already have three or four seasons mapped up.

“For us, it’s always looking at the future, and when we sit down to create a show, it’s looking at multiple seasons, ideally. That’s never expected, but that’s the anticipation that hopefully, the show is successful,” said Millar.
