The 2001’s movie Wet Hot American Summer received a prequel-series and a sequel series treatment, but that won’t be all. We are about to get a Wet Hot American Summer graphic novel from Boom! Studios. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Gwenpool writer Christopher Hastings and artist Noah Hayes will team up on this project that should be released in November 2018.

“This is such a wonderful and unexpected crossing of my comedy nerdom, and my standard issue comic book nerdom, and I think it will be for readers as well,” said Hastings in a statement. “I’ve watched the movie more times than I can count, and I also happen to be a comic book writer who for the life of me, cannot write a somber story. I’ve been looking out for new character interactions that we haven’t seen before, new things to do with spoofing camp movie culture, and I’m also bringing a lot to this from my own time working as a teen camp counselor. I cannot wait for Wet Hot fans to get to read this graphic novel.”

According to the official description, the graphic novel will see Beth having to deal “with a surprise camp inspection by the police after just one week as camp director, leaving her 24 hours to rally Coop, Katie, Andy, Susie, Gene, Nancy, Victor, Ben, McKinley, J.J., Gary, Gail, and the rest of the fan-favorite crew to clean up their act, or close down the camp for good.”

Wet Hot American Summer was released in 2001 and featured an ensemble cast that included Bradley Cooper, Amy Poehler, Elizabeth Banks, Ken Marino, and Michael Ian Black among others. Although the movie performed badly at the box office and was panned by the critics, it managed to develop a cult following. Prequel series titled Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp was released by Netflix in 2015 with the majority of the original cast returning. The series gained positive reviews and got Netflix to produce a sequel titled Wet Hot American Summer: Ten Years Later, which was released in August 2017.
