Taraji P. Henson Can Read Minds In “What Men Want” Trailer

Taraji P. Henson in "What Men Want"

Gender-swapped remakes aren’t anything new in Hollywood, but it seems we’re finally getting one we desperately need. The first trailer for Taraji P. Henson’s new comedy What Men Want just dropped and it’s the exploration of toxic masculinity we’ve been waiting for a long time.

Just like Mel Gibson’s character from the classic rom-com What Women Want, the female lead of the upcoming remake will be able to read the minds of the opposite sex. Empire star plays a sports agent passed over for a promotion in favor of her less competent male colleague. She finds a way to prove her worth and dismantle boys club after developing the ability to hear their thoughts.

Adam Shankman, whose credits include A Walk to Remember and Hairspray, will direct the upcoming movie. The script for What Men Want is based on a story written by Nancy Meyers, helmer of the 2000 original.

It won’t hit theaters before January 11 next year, but some of fans are already super-pumped about it. They consider it a perfect movie for #MeToo era and believe it does a great job of portraying current issues. The trailer sure makes it seem like it, but we’ll have to wait until the winter to make the final verdict.
