Wonder Woman fans have been dealt a blow by DC Studios.

James Gunn and Peter Safran took on the joint roles of chairperson and CEO at the beginning of November after advising Warner Bros. Discovery CEO, David Zaslav, during his search for a head of DC Films.

Although it was released during the pandemic and didn’t receive as good a response as the original which broke box office records, a sequel to Wonder Woman 1984 was announced shortly after it was re-released in theatres. Sadly, it seems that Wonder Woman 3 will not be going ahead as planned.

Director Patty Jenkins is believed to have handed in a treatment of the new film, but was told that it did not align with Gunn and Safran’s new vision for the DC Universe and that the project would thus not be made. Although neither Jenkins nor Warner Bros. has commented, Wonder Woman star, Gal Gadot, did post an intriguing message on social media.

“A few years ago it was announced that I was going to play Wonder Woman. I’ve been so grateful for the opportunity to play such an incredible, iconic character and more than anything I’m grateful for YOU. The fans. Can’t wait to share her next chapter with you.”
