FX’s Y: The Last Man has recast its star. After Barry Keoghan stepped down from the leading role of Yorick Brown about a month ago, Ben Schnetzer will step into the role.

Y: The Last Man follows Yorick Brown and his companion monkey Ampersand after a cataclysmic event kills off every other cisgender male in the world except for him. It deals with the survivors efforts to restore the world or even improve upon it. The series is based on the award-winning DC Comics graphic novel series created by Brian K. Vaughan and Pia Guerra.

Other members of the cast include: Diane Lane, Imogen Poots, Lashana Lynch, Juliana Canfield, Marin Ireland, and Amber Tamblyn. The series will be executive produced by the showrunner, Eliza Clark alongside Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson via Color Force. Melina Matsoukas will direct the pilot and executive produce.

Schnetzer’s past credits include The Truth About the Harry Quebert Affair and Happy Town. He also recently starred in the FX pilot Gone Hollywood and made his Broadway debut in The Nap. Production of Y: The Last Man is set to begin in April.
