Only a few days after landing a lead role in a Netflix comedy alongside Nicole Kidman and Joey King, Zac Efron set his eyes on another exciting project. He’s set to star in The Iron Claw, the latest A24 drama from the critically acclaimed director Sean Durkin.

The Iron Claw will track the rise and fall of the Von Erichs, a famous dynasty of wrestlers. Their rise through the ranks started during the 1960s and they kept on ruling the world of wrestling for the decades to come. The term “Von Erich Curse” was coined after a series of deaths of family members, and it’s connected to a cautionary tale about parental influence, sibling rivalry, and the dangers of professional wrestling.

Durkin serves as both writer and director, while Tessa Ross, Derrin Schlesinger, and Harrison Huffman are set to produce alongside A24. House Productions developed the project, with the support of Access Entertainment and BBC Films.

The Iron Claw is only the latest movie on Efron’s busy slate. He starred in Gold and Firestarter earlier this year and is attached to several more projects. We’ll soon get to see him in the war drama The Greatest Beer Run Ever and Disney’s remake of Three Men and a Baby.
