Greta Gerwig’s Barbie gave us many hilarious moments, including a pretty memorable joke that poked fun at Zach Snyder’s Justice League. A few months down the road, Snyder finally revealed how he truly felt about the iconic joke, and it seems he enjoyed it as much as the rest of us.

The joke in question was delivered by Alexandra Shipp’s Writer Barbie after she recovered from a hypnotic state all Barbies were in after Ken brought the patriarchy to Barbieland. She said, “It’s like I’ve been in a dream where I was really invested in the Zack Snyder Cut of Justice League,” and this line became an instant hit.

Some of Snyder’s fans weren’t on board with the joke, but the director himself didn’t feel the same way. He recently told Men’s Health that he enjoyed Barbie and said that the Justice League joke was pretty good, adding it felt special to be referenced in this hit film.

“The thing that you need to take a second and think about is that your name is so seamlessly sewed together with a pop culture phenomenon so big it can exist as a joke in a movie about Barbie. That’s pretty insane,” said Snyder.

Zack Snyder’s Justice League was released on HBO MAX following the viral “Release the Snyder Cut” campaign on social media after  Joss Whedon took control over the original 2017 film. Snyder later partnered up with Netflix and released several films on this streaming service, including the upcoming Rebel Moon.
