Zack Snyder’s “Army of the Dead” Sets a Release Date

Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead has finally gotten a release date. The zombie heist film, which was first announced in 2008 as a sequel to 2004’s Dawn of the Dead, produced by Universal Studios and Warner Bros. and directed by Matthijs van Heijningen Jr., will be related on May 21 on Netflix.

Snyder announced the news on Twitter with the film’s official poster. The director added that a teaser will be dropping on Thursday.

Snyder will be directing from a script he wrote with Shay Hatten and Joby Harold.

The film follows a group of mercenaries who attempt a Las Vegas casino heist while a zombie outbreak is happening. Army of the Dead stars Dave Bautista, Ella Purnell, Ana De La Reguera, Theo Rossi, Huma Qureshi, Omari Hardwick, Tig Notaro, Hiroyuki Sanada, Garret Dillahunt, Matthias Schweighöfer, Raúl Castillo, Nora Arnezeder, and Samantha Win.

A prequel film and anime series to expand Army of the Dead into a franchise, are in development with Matthias Schweighöfer set to direct and star in the prequel.
