2024 will be Zendaya’s comeback year, and she welcomed it by sharing news about one of her upcoming projects. The Emmy-winning actress welcomed the New Year by sharing a poster for Luca Guadagnino’s upcoming sports dramedy Challengers.

Challengers will center on a former tennis player turned coach Tashi (Zendaya), who transformed her husband Art (Mike Faist) into a world-famous grand slam champion. Following a losing streak, she convinces him to sign up for a “Challenger” event, where he’ll come face to face with his former best friend and Tashi’s ex Patrick (Josh O’Connor).

The new poster for the highly-anticipated film puts an artist’s twist on the film’s love triangle. Zendaya’s Tashi is shown observing the match between Art and Patrick, and their figures are reflected on the frames of her purple sunglasses.

Challengers hails from the visionary director Luca Guadagnino (Call Me By Your Name), while Justin Kuritzkes wrote the script. The duo also joined forces for the adaptation of William S. Burroughs’ novel Queer, set to come out later this year.

Challengers was initially picked as the opening film of last year’s Venice International Film Festival, but this plan fell through due to the SAG-AFTRA strike. Its release date was pushed several times, and it’s now set for April 26, 2024.
