We can count on Zoey Deutch to bring in the laughs with each new movie she stars in, and she’ll do just that in Not Okay. The first trailer for this satirical comedy is here and it sees Deutch playing a fake Instagram influencer who bit off more than she can chew.

Not Okay stars Deutch as Danni Sanders, an aimless aspiring writer with no friends and no romantic prospects, who decides to fake an Instagram-friendly trip to Paris in the hopes of boosting her social media clout – but things get even wilder from there.

A terrifying incident strikes the City of Lights during her “visit” and Danni decides to pretend that she survived it, becoming a social media influencer and advocate before the façade starts to crack and everyone learns it’s all been an elaborate lie.

Not Okay was directed by Quinn Shephard and it also stars Dylan O’Brien, Mia Isaac, and Embeth Davidtz. It will be released by Searchlight Pictures on Hulu on July 29. In addition to playing the lead role, Deutch is also one of the executive producers.

Not Okay is her first feature comedy film since 2019, when she starred in Zombieland: Double Tap. She appeared in Ryan Murphy’s Netflix series The Politician following its release and starred in the crime drama The Outfit earlier this year.
