Dua Lipa has been doing a great job teasing her next era, and she just shared another crucial piece of information with her fans. The British hitmaker teased a new single “Houdini” with a critics teaser on social media, but she’s yet to share details about its release.

Lipa cleared up her Instagram when she started teasing her new era, and shared several posts in the past week or two that she promptly deleted. Her latest teaser seemingly features snippets of her upcoming single “Houdini”, and she can be heard singing “Tell me all the ways you’ll need me” in this short clip.

Lipa’s teaser was released on October 31, the anniversary of Houdini’s death, and it features several references to the famous magician. The series of numbers flashing up at the end of the clip—4 8 9 9 14 15 21—can be translated to the equivalent letters’ of Houdini’s name, while the key in Lipa’s mouth seems to be a nod to his most popular method of escape.

Dua Lipa’s last album Future Nostalgia came out in 2020, and she previously revealed its follow-up would hit the shelves next year. She told New York Times Magazine that her new album will be informed by “1970s-era psychedelia”, but she’s still planning to stay loyal to her signature disco-pop sound.
