Kevin Spacey’s “Billionaire Boys Club” Takes Record-breaking Low at the Box Office

Kevin Spacey, Ansel Elgort, and Taron Egerton in "Billionaire Boys Club"

Kevin Spacey’s latest movie Billionaire Boys Club took just $126 on opening day.

The crime drama was the last movie Spacey made before the sexual assault allegations made against him last year. Spacey’s tarnished reputation has meant that Billionaire Boys Club took a record-breaking low of just $126 on opening day in the US. It allegedly averaged at $12.75 at each cinema it was released in. This is less than the cost of two tickets in most US cinemas.

Vertical Entertainment had announced earlier in the year that the film would go ahead despite the case made against Spacey.

“We hope these distressing allegations pertaining to one person’s behaviour, that were not publicly known when the film was made almost two and a half years ago and from someone who has a small, supporting role in Billionaire Boys Club, does not tarnish the release of the film”, Vertical Entertainment said in a statement.

“In the end, we hope audiences make up their own minds as to the reprehensible allegations of one person’s past, but not at the expense of the entire cast and crew present on this film.”

Unfortunately for everyone else involved in the film, the public seems to be boycotting it.
