You is one of Netflix’s biggest hits right now so it makes sense if they wouldn’t want it to end soon—but Penn Badgley certainly does. The show’s leading man believes that You should end with Season 5 because Joe Goldberg “needs to get what’s coming to him.”

(SPOILERS AHEAD!)

The latest season of You sees Joe trying to escape his past by taking on a new identity and moving to London to start a new life. We got used to seeing him get away with his crimes, so it’s not a shocker that Season 4 ends in a similar fashion, with Joe moving back to New York with Kate (Charlotte Ritchie) and using her fortune to rehabilitate his public image.

Netflix still hasn’t renewed You for Season 5, but it most likely will, given the show’s success. Badgley would like to return as Joe Goldberg for another season and see his character finally get the punishment that he deserves.

“It feels to me like Joe needs to get what’s coming to him, and now he has further to fall because he has all this power and wealth… With this concept and with this character, we always wanted to be responsible and it’s not just the kind of thing we can let keep going because it’s doing well,” Badgley told Indiewire.
