The groundbreaking sci-fi drama series Citadel is coming to Amazon this spring and the streamer finally gave us a first glimpse! The first trailer for Citadel stars Richard Madden and Priyanka Chopra as the agents of a global spy agency from the show’s title.
The official synopsis describes Citadel as “an expansive and groundbreaking global event series consisting of an English-language […] and at least five local language shows all being developed and produced simultaneously and in different countries (including Brazil, France, and Mexico, and with India and Italy).”
The action takes place in a new age of espionage, in the aftermath of the downfall of the global spy agency Citadel. The memories of its agents were wiped clean, but they must remember their past and summon the strength to fight back after a sinister syndicate Manticore rises to power.
In addition to Madden and Chopra in the lead roles, this series will also star Stanley Tucci, Lesley Manville, Osy Ikhile, Caoilinn Springall, Roland Møller, Ashleigh Cummings, and Leo Woodall.
The first two episodes of the six-episode series, created by Josh Appelbaum and Bryan Oh, will premiere on Amazon on April 28. The Indian and Italian adaptations are in the early stages of development, but the streaming giant is yet to share further details.
