After a lot of anticipation, Scream VI finally hit the theaters last week, and it was definitely worth waiting for. Fans of this horror franchise flocked to the theatres, helping the latest installment top the box office and score the biggest opening for a Scream film.

The last year’s Scream V did a great job reviving this franchise, and there was a lot of buzz surrounding its sequel. The latest installment sees the survivors of Ghostface’s latest killings leaving Woodsboro and trying to start a new life in New York, only to be haunted by their past.

Melissa Barrera, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Mason Gooding, Jenna Ortega, Hayden Panettiere, and Courteney Cox returned to reprise their roles from the previous film, with Jack Champion, Henry Czerny, Liana Liberato, Dermot Mulroney, Devyn Nekoda, Tony Revolori, Josh Segarra, and Samara Weaving joining the cast.

Following its premiere on March 10, the film was met with generally positive reviews, and Scream fans couldn’t wait to see it. Scream VI eventually grossed $44.5 million in the United States and Canada, and $22.6 million overseas, for a worldwide total of $67.1 million. In addition to finishing first at the box office, it also set to opening record for this franchise.
