It doesn’t happen often that the movie studio buys movie rights to a book that has not been published yet. Ernest Cline had the luck that the Warner Bros. bought the movie rights for his book Ready Player One in 2010, on the same day he signed a deal with a publisher, and one year before the book was even out.
Since then, Ready Player One became a New York Times bestseller and has been translated into 20 languages, with the sequel reportedly being in the works.
Meanwhile, the movie adaptation got a director in Steven Spielberg and release date in March of 2018. The movie also has an interesting cast that includes Tye Sheridan, Olivia Cooke, Ben Mendelsohn, Simon Pegg, and T. J. Miller.
Finally, after a long time, we have an opportunity to check out a trailer for the movie. The trailer brings action, excitement and lots of pop culture references that will take you back straight to the ’80s. Without further ado, check out the Ready Player One’s first trailer below.
Ready Player One takes place in 2045 when the Earth suffers from climate changes, pollution, and overpopulation.
