]]>Netflix previously shared a look of Jenna Ortega as the titular character Wednesday Addams, but they decided to take things up a notch. The new photos also offer a look at Catherine Zeta-Jones as matriarch Morticia, Luis Guzmán as her loyal husband Gomez, and Isaac Ordonez as Wednesday’s hapless brother Pugsley.
Co-creators Miles Millar and Alfred Gough worked closely with executive producer and director Tim Burton on this project, drawing inspiration from Charles Addams’ original cartoons and trying to make something completely unique.
“That’s something that was very important to the show—that it didn’t feel like a remake or a reboot… It’s not trying to be the movies or the ’60s TV show. That was very important to us and very important to Tim,” Millar told Vanity Fair.
This series will center on Wednesday Addams during her time as a high school student at Nevermore Academy, where she attempts to master her psychic powers. It’s set to premiere in the fourth quarter of 2022, but Netflix is yet to confirm its official release date.

Wednesday will be directed and executive produced by iconic director Tim Burton. The series, which will have eight episodes, focuses on Wednesday Addams and chronicles her years as a student at Nevermore Academy. The most famous works featuring the Addams family are a pair of 1990s movies directed by Barry Sonnenfeld. The 1991’s The Addams Family was a big commercial success, while its 1993’s sequel Addams Family Values received an Academy Award nomination and was considered one of the best movies of the year by critics.

Michael Sheen will return to the role of Bright’s father, who’s currently serving a sentence in an asylum. Zeta-Jones will join him in the role of Dr. Vivian Capshaw, who works at the Claremont Psychiatric Hospital.
Fox’s president of entertainment Michael Thorn announced her casting and set high expectations for her on-screen pairing with Sheen. “An extraordinary talent, Catherine Zeta-Jones is the perfect foil for the brilliant Michael Sheen. I can’t wait to see these two greats go head-to-head in a season that is bound to raise the bar set by an outstanding Season One,” said Thorn in a statement.

]]>18 years ago, Chicago actress, Catherine Zeta-Jones, and her Ant-Man and the Wasp star husband, Michael Douglas, welcomed their first child together.
And now, they are sending their son Dylan off to college!
The teenager, who celebrated his birthday last month, has enrolled in Brown University and has already decorated his dorm room with pillows depicting the Union Jack and a poster of the Rolling Stones.
In acknowledgment of the milestone (as any mom would!), Catherine posted a slideshow to Instagram, complete with pictures set to Mr. Blue Sky by Electric Light Orchestra.
“Let the lectures really begin! I love you, Dylan. Good luck in the next exciting and enlightening chapter of your life,” she wrote.
But don’t worry, Catherine and Michael won’t experience empty nest syndrome just yet, as 15-year-old daughter Carys is still at home.
