The role of Captain Kirk in Star Trek movies was one of the turning points of Chris Pine’s career, but it was almost played by someone else. The Emmy-nominated actor Timothy Olyphant recently revealed he was almost cast as Captain Kirk, but he harbors no hard feelings toward Pine after losing the role.

Olyphant recalled the time when he auditioned for J.J. Abrams’ 2009 Star Trek revival in a recent episode of the Happy Sad Confused podcast. He was initially auditioning for Dr. Leonard McCoy before reading for Kirk, but the studio eventually wanted to go with a younger actor for this role.

Despite not being cast as Kirk, Olyphant said he had a great experience with J.J. Abrams and described him as “a lovely guy”. He also had nothing but words of praise for Chris Pine, and said he’s a huge fan of the Dungeons & Dragons actor, both on and off screen.

“I have since then met Chris Pine and I am a huge fan of him both on and off screen… I had the honor, we’re going to say honor, to go to the Golden Globes one year…and I spent most of the evening at the bar with Chris Pine. Just really adored him. What a good guy,” said Olyphant.

Chris Pine is fresh off starring in the box-office hit Dungeons and Dragons and he’s gearing up for a role in another promising project. He’ll play King Magnifico in Disney Animation’s upcoming musical comedy Wish.

Wish will center on witty and optimistic 17-year-old girl Asha (Ariana DeBose), who lives in the Kingdom of Roses. After sensing darkness no one else can see, she makes a wish so powerful that her plea is answered by a cosmic force named Star.

Pine will play King Magnifico, a ruler of a magical kingdom where wishes really do come true, and the film’s executive producer Jennifer Lee can’t wait to welcome him on board.

“As the most powerful person in the kingdom, King Magnifico needed to be played by someone who could give all the charm, cleverness, and charisma to this magnanimous character, and Chris is beautifully bringing all of that and then some,” she said in a statement.

Wish will also star Alan Tudyk as Valentino, while the rest of the voice cast is yet to be announced ahead of the film’s November 22 release date. David Metzger will compose the film’s score, with Julia Michaels and Benjamin Rice writing the original songs.

The press tour for the last year’s thriller Don’t Worry Darling gave us many wild moments, including the so-called “spitgate” between Chris Pine and Harry Styles. Pine finally cleared the air and revealed what really happened between him and Styles during that viral moment at the Venice Film Festival.

All hell broke loose following the Don’t Worry Darling screening in Venice after a viral video apparently showed Harry Styles spitting on Chris Pine. The blink-and-you-miss-it moment led to countless tabloid headlines and think pieces, and Pine even had to craft a statement saying that Styles didn’t spit on him and called him a “very, very kind guy.”

Many months later, the story didn’t quite die down, and Pine decided to clear the air during a recent interview with Esquire. The Star Trek actor revealed that the Grammy-winning singer simply leaned down and said, “It’s just words, isn’t it?”, referencing an inner joke between them.

“We had this little joke, because we’re all jetlagged, we’re all trying to answer these questions, and sometimes when you’re doing these press things, your brain goes all befuddled, you know, you start speaking gibberish, and we had a joke like, ‘It’s just words, man,’” explained Pine.

The drama surrounding Don’t Worry Darling is now long behind Pine, and he’s focusing on other projects. He’s currently busy promoting Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, and he’ll make his directorial debut with Poolman later this year.

Dungeons and Dragons, the most popular tabletop fantasy role-playing game in the world, is returning to the big screen and it appears that the WonderWoman 1984 star Chris Pine will be the one rolling the dices.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Pine is currently in talks to star in the D&D live-action movie with Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley being on board as directors. The duo reportedly already has a script in place that they have based on Michael Gilio’s draft. The plot of the movie is still under wraps, but based on the nature of the game, we should expect an epic fantasy that is filled with adventures, treasure hunts, magic, and much more.

If everything goes smoothly, the filming should commence in the first part of 2021 in Belfast, Ireland, while the release date is set for a late 2022 premiers, per Deadline.

The project was originally conceived in 2015, with Ansel Elgort (Baby Driver) starring and Rob Letterman (Detective Pikachu) directing. However, due to various issues and legal battles over film rights, the production was on hold until now.

This will be the fourth movie adaptation of Dungeons and Dragons. The first film, starring Justin Whalin, Marlon Wayans, and Jeremy Irons, was released back in 2000 and was met with negative reviews and poor box office performance. Two low-budget sequels, 2005’s Wrath of the Dragon God and 2011’s The Book of Vile Darkness, followed.

Singer Harry Styles has landed his second acting role starring opposite Florence Pugh, Chris Pine, and Oliva Wilde in Olivia Wilde’s psychological thriller Don’t Worry, Darling.

Styles replaces Shia LeBeouf, who left the project following a scheduling conflict.

While details about the plot haven’t been released yet, Katie Silberman wrote the screenplay for the film based on a script by Shane and Carey Van Dyke. The film is set in an isolated community in the California desert in the 1950s.

After a bidding war with 18 bids, New Line Cinemas bought the rights to the film in August 2019. The deal came after Wilde’s critically acclaimed directorial debut Booksmart.

Styles’ acting debut was in Christopher Nolan’s Dunkirk. After casting Styles, Nolan told journalists that he chose the singer for the role because “he has an old-fashioned face … the kind of face that makes you believe he could have been alive in that period.”

Production for Don’t Worry, Darling is set to begin this fall.

The Wonder Woman fans have been patiently awaiting the sequel to this movie for quite some time, and they’ll have to wait a little bit longer. Due to slow theater re-openings, the release date of this superhero flick has been delayed once more, this time to Christmas.

Director Patty Jenkins released an official statement on behalf of herself and Gal Gadot, thanking all the devoted Wonder Woman fans around the world for eagerly awaiting to reunite with Diana Prince.

“Because I know how important it is to bring this movie to you on a big screen when all of us can share the experience together, I’m hopeful you won’t mind waiting just a little bit longer. With the new date on Christmas Day, we can’t wait to spend the holidays with you!” stated Jenkins.

In addition to Gadot, it will also star Chris Pine, Robin Wright, Kristen Wiig, and Pedro Pascal. Just as the title suggests, the film will take place in 1984 and will show Wonder Woman as she faces two formidable foes—media mogul Maxwell Lord and friend-turned-enemy Barbara Minerva/Cheetah.

After several major delays, Wonder Woman 1984 is now set to premiere on December 25th.

The Saint is based on a 1920s book series of the same name by Leslie Charteris. It inspired a 1960s TV show starring Roger Moore and was turned into a film in 1997 starring Val Kilmer.

According to Variety, Paramount Pictures views the reboot as a potential start for an ongoing feature franchise, however, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic shutting down almost all productions,  it’s unknown when The Saint will actually happen.

Big blockbusters kept Chris Pine pretty busy in the last couple of years, but he’s ready for new endeavors. The trailer for his upcoming historical drama Outlaw King just dropped, and it’s taking us to the fields of medieval Scotland.

Braveheart meets The Revenant in Pine’s next project, which is all about nobility, glory, and revenge. The Star Trek actor takes on the role of legendary Robert the Bruce, who’s trying to reclaim control of Scotland. He’s forced into hiding after being made an outlaw by the King of England but decides it’s time to stop running. He builds a strong following and gets ready to ignite a war against “the strongest army in the world”.

Outlaw King reunites Pine with David Mackenzie, the director behind the critically acclaimed western Hell or High Water, a surprising hit that received four Oscar nominations after it came out in 2016, including the prestigious Best Picture award.

We’re yet to see if their upcoming project can replicate its success, but it looks promising so far. Outlaw King will debut as the opening night of the Toronto Film Festival, making it the perfect candidate for an Academy Award. Pine’s fans will have to wait until November 9 to see it on their own. That’s when this historical epic opens in selected theaters and launches globally on Netflix.

Walkmans, leg warmers… and Wonder Woman.

The ’80s better prepare itself because Diana Prince means business.

Production on the sequel to last year’s Woman Woman film, Wonder Woman 1984 is already 3 weeks in, and members of the cast, as well its director, treated fans to some on-set secrets during Comic-Con.

Director Patty Jenkins revealed just why that decade had been chosen, saying, “One of my favorite things about making the original was that it took place during World War I in 1917, an era full of metaphors like modernity and the mechanized world. I grew up in the ’80s, and this has its own look and feel. The reason I am excited is it showed mankind at its best and worst. It was grand and wonderful, there was great music and there were elegant and beautiful things. But other things about the decade revealed the worst of us. To have Wonder Woman in that period of time that was us at our most extreme is wonderful.”

Jenkins also teased Chris Pine’s return (you may remember that Steve Trevor didn’t quite survive the first film…) telling the audience: “It’s something I’m super excited for everybody to see, [Chris] is a very important part of our movie.”

And if that wasn’t enough, those in Hall H also got to see a clip from the film which featured Wonder Woman, played by Gal Gadot, kicking ass in a mall.

Wonder Woman 1984 premieres on November 1st 2019.

Paramount Pictures’ reboot of The Saint has found its lead.

Chris Pine, who can be seen next in Wonder Woman: 1984, is in talks to star in the studio’s remake of Robin Hoodesque film. The reboot will be directed by Rocketman helmer Dexter Fletcher from a script penned by Seth Grahame-Smith.
