James McAvoy and Claire Foy are set to star in the movie, a remake of a French movie of the same name. McAvoy will play a father whose son went missing. He’ll travel to the city in which his ex-wife lives in order to find out what happened and bring his son home. However, as in the French original, McAvoy will not be given a script or any dialogue beforehand. While the other cast members will know what is happening, McAvoy will have to improvise and discover the plot himself.

Christian Carion, who directed the original movie, will helm this one as well. The movie rights were bought by STXfilms.

Adam Fogelson, chairman of STXfilms Motion Picture Group said that the group is thrilled about the new movie adaptation to wider audiences. “James will be doing the detective work of the film in real-time, on camera, to create real tension for this thriller. We like to support bold and innovative storytelling like My Son, and Claire could not be a more spectacular or exciting choice for this film which is certain to thrill audiences.”

Arise, Tobias Menzies!

As The Crown continues to sweep the controversy of its pay discrepancies under the royal carpet, Netflix has announced just who will be sitting on the throne for the upcoming season.

Claire Foy and Matt Smith have been at the helm for the show’s first 2 seasons as Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Phillip, respectively.

But with the series-deciding to fast forward a few years in the life of her royal highness, new castings have been finalized for the roles.

Broadchurch actress, Olivia Coleman, had already been confirmed as taking over the role from Miss Foy, with Matt’s replacement now having been announced as Outlander actor, Tobias Menzies.

The pair will fill the roles for seasons 3 and 4 and will be joined by Les Misérables actress, Helena Bonham Carter, as Princess Margaret.

We hope that Netflix sticks to its decree that no one will be paid higher than the Queen.

The monarchy was shook a few weeks ago when it was discovered that The Crown had been practicing pay discrepancies amongst its ranks.

It was revealed by producer Suzanne Mackie that Claire Foy, who plays Queen Elizabeth II, was being paid less per episode than Matt Smith who stars as her consort, Prince Phillip.

It was claimed that Matt’s previous role in Doctor Who had offered him a higher profile, despite Claire undeniably starring as the lead character.

The furor prompted the Netflix show’s producers, Left Bank Pictures, to apologize to both actors, and state that they, as producers, “are responsible for budgets and salaries; the actors are not aware of who gets what, and cannot be held personally responsible for the pay of their colleagues.”

The queen herself has now weighed in, with Claire admitting that she is not surprised that her subjects (aka viewers) were upset.

“I’m not surprised that people saw [the story] and went, ‘Oh, that’s a bit odd.’ But I know that Matt feels the same that I do, that it’s odd to find yourself at the center [of a story] that you didn’t particularly ask for.”

We expect that the pair can now find some relief as neither will be returning to the series which fast-forwards in the royals’ lives from season 3.

As you were.

Matt Smith has some pressure on his shoulders — and it’s not just the weight of that crown…

Producers of The Crown have now issued an apology to stars, Claire Foy and Matt Smith, in light of the revelation that the Queen was being paid far less than the Prince.

It was claimed that the pay discrepancy had arisen as a result of Matt’s role as the 11th Doctor on Doctor Who, believing that he possessed more notoriety.

In a statement which referred to Claire and Matt as “brilliant actors and friends,” Left Bank Pictures states that they, as producers, “are responsible for budgets and salaries; the actors are not aware of who gets what, and cannot be held personally responsible for the pay of their colleagues.”

The statement continued: “We understand and appreciate the conversation which is rightly being played out across society and we are absolutely united with the fight for fair pay, free of gender bias, and for a re-balancing of the industry’s treatment of women, both those in front of the camera and for those behind the scenes.”

Someone else united in the fight for fair pay are 24,000 people who have signed a Care2 petition calling for Matt and Netflix to donate the difference in paychecks to the Time’s Up Legal Defence Fund.

Well, they say a Prince leads by example.
