]]>The Tanu Muino-directed video opens with Styles walking through circus grounds and interacting with many fellow performers, from clowns to acrobats. Surprisingly enough, this isn’t the first music video for “Daylight” since he previously joined forces with James Corden to film a low-fee $300 visual during an appearance on his talk show.
“Daylight” was initially released as the fifth track from the singer’s latest studio album Harry’s House, which also produced hit singles “As It Was”, “Late Night Talking”, “Music for a Sushi Restaurant”, and “Satellite”.
Styles and his collaborator Kid Harpoon and Tyler Johnson pulled an all-nighter to finish the song and they were pretty happy to hear how it turned out.
“‘Daylight’ was quite an early song on the album. It was it’s one of my favorites and it was kind of a stream-of-consciousness writing that happened kind of late… We finished it. Went out to the beach to watch the sun come up. And it was a nice moment,” Styles told Howard Stern.

]]>Styles shared a photo that was presumably taken while he was working on this album, and captured it with words, “One year of Harry’s House. I’ve never been happier than making this album, thank you for everything.”
Styles released Harry’s House on May 20, 2022, and its title doesn’t refer to a geographical location but a state of mind.
“It was much more of an internal thing… [and] it felt like it took on this whole new meaning and it was about, like: imagine, it’s a day in my house, what do I go through? A day in my mind, what do I go through?” he told Zane Lowe.
Harry’s House produced hit singles “As It Was”, “Late Night Talking”, “Music for a Sushi Restaurant”, and “Satellite”, and surged to the top of the charts around the world. It won a Brit Award for the album of the year and received a Grammy nod in the same category.

]]>The video opens with footage of NASA’s Curiosity rover, with a small robot watching over it. A voiceover from Succession’s Brian Cox proclaims, “Curiosity was born on Mars. It has spent over 10 lonely years roaming the surface of the red planet.”
After watching the footage of the Curiosity rover traversing Mars in solitude, the tiny robot embarks on an epic quest to reach its star-crossed lover. It roams from Styles’ concert to busy LA streets and the Las Vegas desert, before ending its journey in a grassy field alongside Styles.
“Satellite” very clearly draws inspiration from the Pixar classic Wall-E, but many believe it’s also the singer’s love letter to his stage crew since the video features many backstage scenes from his concerts at Los Angeles’ Kia Forum.
“Satellite” hails from the singer’s latest studio album Harry’s House, and it serves as its fourth single following the success of “As It Was”, “Late Night Talking”, and “Music for a Sushi Restaurant”.

]]>Before Styles appeared on the very last episode of James Corden‘s The Late Late Show, it was rumored One Direction would reunite to bid Corden farewell. The talk show host dispelled this rumor, tweeting, “Nobody loves the boys more than us… but this story just isn’t true.”
Even though we never got to see One Direction reunite, Corden asked Styles how he feels about this idea during the popular segment of Spill Your Guts or Eat Your Guts.
“I fear that it’s not a yes or no question. I think I would never say never to that. If there was a time when we wanted to do it, I don’t see why we wouldn’t,” said Styles.
One Direction was formed back in 2010, after Styles, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, and Louis Tomlinson met while auditioning for The X Factor. Malik left the band in 2015, and the remaining four members went their separate ways one year later to pursue solo projects.

Many other celebrities will take the seat on Corden’s couch before The Late Late Show ends its run, including Ben Affleck, Bryan Cranston, Tom Cruise, Jennifer Garner, Brett Goldstein, Kate Hudson, Allison Janney, the Kardashian family, Mila Kunis, Seth Meyers, and Billy Porter.
The final episode will air on CBS on April 27, with Styles and Ferrell joining the host for the show’s swan song. The Late Late Show with James Corden has been around since 2015, and its last episode will bring the end to The Late Late Show after almost three decades. Tom Snyder, Craig Kilborn, and Craig Ferguson served as hosts before Corden took over.

]]>All hell broke loose following the Don’t Worry Darling screening in Venice after a viral video apparently showed Harry Styles spitting on Chris Pine. The blink-and-you-miss-it moment led to countless tabloid headlines and think pieces, and Pine even had to craft a statement saying that Styles didn’t spit on him and called him a “very, very kind guy.”
Many months later, the story didn’t quite die down, and Pine decided to clear the air during a recent interview with Esquire. The Star Trek actor revealed that the Grammy-winning singer simply leaned down and said, “It’s just words, isn’t it?”, referencing an inner joke between them.
“We had this little joke, because we’re all jetlagged, we’re all trying to answer these questions, and sometimes when you’re doing these press things, your brain goes all befuddled, you know, you start speaking gibberish, and we had a joke like, ‘It’s just words, man,’” explained Pine.
The drama surrounding Don’t Worry Darling is now long behind Pine, and he’s focusing on other projects. He’s currently busy promoting Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, and he’ll make his directorial debut with Poolman later this year.

]]>Both acts are in the running for one of the biggest awards of the night: British album of the year, along with The 1975, Stormzy, and Fred Again. Styles is also one of the nominees for British artist of the year, along with Central Cee, Stormzy, Fred Again, and George Ezra. Wet Leg is in the running for the best British group award, going head to head with the likes of Artic Monkeys and The 1975.
This marks the second year since Brit Awards abandoned the gendered categories, but this change isn’t the triumph it was supposed to be. The announcement of the nominations was met with some backlash because the artist of the year field is entirely male. The Brit spokesperson addressed the situation, blaming the lack of releases by “high profile women artists” and “trends based around the release schedule” on the lack of female nominees.
The 2023 Brit Awards will take place on February 11 at The O2 Arena in London, with Mo Gilligan returning as a host.

]]>The end-of-the-year success of “As It Was” in the UK doesn’t come as a shocker, because it comes after this hit song spent ten weeks atop the UK Singles Chart, becoming the longest-running number-one and best-selling single of 2022 in Styles’ home country.
According to OCC’s data, this song shifted 1.57 million combined units, finishing the year with 180.9 million audio and video streams. Its parent album, Harry’s House, also topped the year-end album chart.
In addition to finding success in the UK, “As It Was” topped the charts in 35 countries, and set several major milestones in the US. It spent 15 weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100, becoming the longest-running No. 1 song by a solo act in the chart’s history.
The rest of the songs in the top five mostly hail from Ed Sheeran, even though he didn’t release a new album in 2022. He took No. 2 and No. 5 with “Bad Habits” and “Shivers”, respectively, and shared the No. 3 spot with Fireboy DML with their collaboration “Peru”. Cat Burns came in fourth with “Go”.

]]>The post Harry Styles and Wet Leg Lead 2023 Brit Awards Nominations appeared first on EverydayKoala.

]]>The post Harry Styles’ “As It Was” Named the Biggest 2022 Single in the UK appeared first on EverydayKoala.
