]]>Amazon Prime Video describes Road House as the adrenaline-fueled reimagining of the 80s cult classic, which centers on ex-UFC fighter Dalton (Gyllenhaal), who takes a job as a bouncer at a Florida Keys roadhouse, only to discover that this paradise is not all it seems.
In addition to Gyllenhaal, the cast of his highly-anticipated remake will include Daniela Melchior, Billy Magnussen, Jessica Williams, Darren Barnet, Arturo Castro, J.D. Pardo, and Conor McGregor.
Road House will serve as the opening film at this year’s South by Southwest on March 8 before heading to Amazon Prime Video on March 21. Director Doug Liman recently announced he’ll miss the film’s premiere as a way of protesting Amazon’s decision not to release it theatrically.
“Movies like Road House, people actually want to see on the big screen, and it was made for the big screen. Without movie theaters, we won’t have the commercial box office hits that are the locomotives that allow studios to take gambles on original movies and new directors,” wrote Liman in an open letter.
