]]>Momoa recently attended a fan event at The Grove in Los Angeles alongside the director James Wan. He addressed the audience in a somber tone and revealed he was ready to leave this character behind.
“This might be the last time we’re up on the stage together, it’s been a long journey. It’s been 12 years playing this character, the longest I ever played a character through so much,” said Momoa.
This statement comes shortly after Momoa told Entertainment Tonight that his future in the DCU isn’t looking good, but there’s a possibility he’d return if the audience loves the last film in the franchise.
The DC boss Peter Safran also discussed his future with The Independent and said that Momoa will always have a home at Warner Bros. and DC, regardless of what happens to Aquaman.
Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom hit the theatres on December 22 and is projected to gross around $40 million during its opening weekend.

]]>Momoa previously hosted SNL in 2018, when the first Aquaman film came out, and he’s ready to give it another go. He’s been tapped to host the popular NBC show on November 18, with the Canadian singer Tate McRae serving as the musical guest, following the release of her hit song “Greedy”.
Momoa’s hosting spot comes ahead of the release of his upcoming superhero blockbuster Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, set to be released on December 22. Momoa has been pretty booked and busy throughout 2023, and we’ve also seen him play the main villain in Fast X, in addition to making a cameo as Aquaman in The Flash.
Momoa isn’t the first star of a major studio blockbuster to be announced as the SNL host amid the SAG-AFTRA strike. He’ll follow in the footsteps of the Wonka star Timothée Chalamet, who’ll host the show on November 11 with a musical guest Boygenius.

His choice takes him on a dark and violent path, where Nick and Dante’s timelines weave separate paths, but with many similarities that tie them together, as they lose themselves chasing love, beauty, and the very promise of the divine.
Oscar Isaac, Jason Momoa, and Gerard Butler will head to Italy to film this project, which landed an interim agreement from SAG-AFTRA allowing them to film during the actors’ strike. Oscar nominee Julian Schnabel is coming on board as a director and one of the executive producers, along with Isaac through his production company Mad Gene Media, and Martin Scorsese alongside DreamCrew, Screen Capital/Screen One, and Tribune Pictures.

]]>Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom will see Arthur Curry/Aquaman join forces with his half-brother Orm (Patrick Wilson), who’s been imprisoned at the end of the last film after trying to destroy the surface world. The duo must do everything in their power to stop Black Manta (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II), who’s now wielding the power of the mythic Black Trident, as he tries to avenge his father’s death.
The film’s star-studded cast will also include Amber Heard as Mera, Dolph Lundgren as Nereus, Randall Park as Dr. Stephen Shin, Temuera Morrison as Tom Curry, and Nicole Kidman as Atlanna, Arthur and Orm’s mother. James Wan is returning as a director, while David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick wrote the script.
The production of Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom wrapped up in early 2022, and the film was hit with several delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic and post-production setbacks. It’s now set to be released on December 20 by Warner Bros. Pictures.

]]>It’s only been a few days since DC’s superhero movie Blue Beetle hit the theaters, but Soto already set his eyes on his next project. His buddy action comedy The Wrecking Crew is being developed by MGM and it will star two actors who are no strangers to playing superheroes: Guardians of the Galaxy’s Dave Bautista and Aquaman’s Jason Momoa.
Warrior creator Jonathan Tropper penned the script for this buddy comedy, and the leading duo was in talks to star long before the SAG-AFTA strike kicked off. Plot details remain unknown, but there was a lot of interest in this film in 2021 when Bautista and Momoa originally pitched it to studios and MGM won a four-bidder battle.
Bautista and Momoa previously starred in Denis Villeneuve’s Dune, and Bautista will return for its sequel later this year, after appearing in Knock at the Cabin and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. As for Momoa, he most recently starred in Fast X and The Flash and we’ll soon get to see him in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.

]]>Momoa recently attended the premiere of the documentary Deep Rising at the Sundance Film Festival, and the reporter couldn’t resist asking him questions about Aquaman. He’s excited to return to this role, but he’s open to playing more characters in the future.
“I love [James] Gunn and so there’s gonna be some really cool things, what they’re doing with DC, and I definitely will be in more than just on… There’s room for me to play a couple different [roles]… I’ll always be Aquaman, and there’s a lot of evolution for that,” said Momoa.
Momoa took the lead in the original 2018 Aquaman movie, which became the highest-grossing DC movie with $1.1 billion worldwide. Its sequel Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is a long time coming, and it’s set to premiere on Christmas Day. He previously played Aquaman in Justice League and made a cameo in HBO Max’s Peacemaker led by John Cena.

]]>Aquaman himself spilled the news on social media, sharing a photo that shows him having the time of his life with Affleck behind the scenes of their upcoming film.
“REUNITED bruce and arthur. love u and miss u Ben WB studio tours just explored the backlot alright. busted on set all great things coming AQUAMAN 2 all my aloha j,” wrote Momoa on Instagram.
It’s been five years since the last time Affleck played the iconic superhero. He made his debut in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and went on to reprise the role in the 2017 Justice League, also starring Momoa as Aquaman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Ezra Miller as The Flash, and Ray Fisher as Cyborg.
Affleck already filmed his scenes as the Batman for the upcoming film The Flash, where he’ll share the iconic role with Michael Keaton. This film is set to premiere on June 23, 2023, and it will be preceded by Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom on March 17, 2023.

In addition to Momoa, the series also starred Sylvia Hoeks, Hera Hilmar, Christian Camargo, Alfre Woodard, and Dave Bautista.
Showrunner and executive producer Jonathan Tropper described the show as “a monumental labor of love for all involved” and said they’re eternally grateful for the way it’s been embraced by the viewers.
“We are thrilled to share this epic final chapter of See, which delivers all the intense drama, riveting action, and heartfelt emotion fans have come to expect, as well as what we think is a deeply satisfying conclusion to our story,” said Tropperin a statement.
The third and final season of See will premiere on Apple TV+ on August 26.

In a video that he shared with his followers, Momoa revealed that he’s currently in London filming the sequel and said it’s amazing to be back. “This is the last day of the brown. I’m gonna be a blonde. Supposedly [they] have more fun. I don’t know about that. We’ll test it out. But I’m excited to see [director] James [Wan], see my whole cast,” said the Aquaman actor.
