The post Glastonbury Festival Announces Full Line-Up for 2023 Edition appeared first on EverydayKoala.
]]>Back in December, it was announced that Elton John will perform the final UK show of his last-ever tour at Glastonbury, and he’ll be in pretty good company. Guns N’ Roses and Arctic Monkeys will also headline the festival, while Yusuf aka Cat Stevens will take the coveted Sunday afternoon “legend slot”, which draws in one of the festival’s biggest audiences.
The list of this year’s performers also includes Lizzo, Lana Del Rey, Lil Nas X, Manic Street Preachers, Wizkid, and Blondie. After the lineup was announced, Glastonbury came under fire for the lack of female headliners, but the organizer Emily Eavis claims things will be very different next year.
“We try our best and we obviously aim for 50:50… This year, we did have a female headliner, and she, unfortunately, had to pull out… But next year it’s looking like we’ve got two female headliners, so fingers crossed,” said Eavis, according to BBC.
Glastonbury Festival will take place at Pilton, Summerset between June 21 and June 25, and more acts and attractions will soon be announced.

]]>The post Lizzo Transforms Into a Superhero in “Special” Music Video appeared first on EverydayKoala.
]]>The Christian Breslauer-directed video starts with Lizzo flying into the frame in a purple superhero outfit. As the video progresses, we watch her save the day time and time again, from protecting a young girl from a car crash to saving a baby from a burning building.
“Special” was released as the third single from Lizzo’s fourth studio album of the same name back in January. She decided to name the whole LP after this song at Max Martin’s suggestion after he helped her change the hook of this song.
“I want the person [who hears] this to feel special. Everything now has this special feel to it, and this glow, this sparkle. Ever since that’s the era I’m moving into. It’s out of the darkness and into the light,” Lizzo previously told Zane Lowe.
Special was released on July 15, 2022, and it produced hit singles “About Damn Time” and “2 Be Loved (Am I Ready)”. Lizzo is in the running for five Grammys with this album, including album, record, and song of the year.

]]>The R&B legend Blige is entering this year’s Grammys with six nominations, but she won’t be the only nominee performing at the show. Lizzo is in the running for five awards, while Bad Bunny scored three nods. They’re all competing for one of the ceremony’s main awards: album of the year.
The list of performers will also include Brandi Carlile, nominated for seven awards, and fellow nominees Steve Lacy and Luke Combs. Sam Smith and Kim Petras are scheduled to perform their song “Unholy”, which is in the running for the best pop duo/group performance. The Recording Academy is expected to announce the rest of the performers in the upcoming days.
The 65th Grammy Awards will take place at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on February 5 with Trevor Noah returning as a host for the third time. The list of nominees is led by Beyoncé with nine nods, followed by Kendrick Lamar with eight, and Adele and Brandi Carlile with seven each.

]]>The post From Lizzo to Kate Bush: Check Out TikTok’s Most Popular Songs of 2022 appeared first on EverydayKoala.
]]>If you want to find similarities between TikTok’s biggest hits and the Billboard Hot 100 for 2022, don’t waste your time. Most of them don’t hail from A-list artists and they’ve never managed to actually make it to the top of the charts, but some came pretty close.
“Sunroof” by Nicky Youre and Dazy made it to the top of TikTok’s list for 2022, but how did it do outside of this platform? It peaked at No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and made it to the UK Top 40, in addition to being streamed 397 million times on Spotify.
“Ginseng Strip 2000” by Yung Lean and “L$d” by Luclover rounded out the top three, but did any A-list artists make the cut? TikTok’s favorite Lizzo made it to several top lists for 2022, including this one with her chart-topping hit “About Dam Time”.
The list also included the viral hit “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” from the Disney movie Encanto and Kate Bush’s seminal hit “Running Up That Hill”, which experience somewhat of a renascence after being featured in Stranger Things earlier this year.
Check out TikTok’s full list of the biggest 2022 hits below:
1. ‘Sunroof’ – Nicky Youre & dazy
2. ‘Ginseng Strip 2002’ – Yung Lean
3. ‘L$d’ – Luclover
4. ‘Own Brand Freestyle’ – FelixThe1st & Dréya Mac
5. ‘Reggae & Calypso’ – Russ Millions & Buni & YV
6. ‘Running Up That Hill (A Deal with God)’ – Kate Bush
7. ‘We Don’t Talk About Bruno’ – Encanto Cast
8. ‘Jiggle Jiggle’ – Duke & Jones & Louis Theroux
9. ‘Captain (Whistle)’ – Nutcase 22
10. ‘About Damn Time’ – Lizzo

]]>Lizzo is currently taking the world by storm with her summer anthem “About Damn Time”, but she’s actually expected to perform her new single “2 Be Loved (Am I Ready)” at this award show. Jack Harlow’s inclusion also makes total sense since he’s one of the night’s most nominated artists, but he’s yet to announce his song choice.
K-pop girl band Blackpink will hit the stage with a live rendition of their upcoming single “Pink Venom”, set to be released on August 19. Italian band Måneskin is in the running for the best artist award, and they’re set to perform their latest single “Supermodel”.
The list of performers at this year’s MTV VMAs will also include Anitta, J Balvin, Marshmello x Khalid, Panic! at the Disco, and Kane Brown. Nicki Minaj will hit the stage with the medley of her biggest hits after receiving the honorary Vanguard Award.
The 2022 MTV Video Music Awards are taking place on August 28 in New Jersey’s Prudential Center in Newark.

]]>The post Lizzo Hits No. 1 on Billboard Hot 100 With “About Damn Time” appeared first on EverydayKoala.
]]>“About Damn Time” completed its 14-week ascent to the summit this week, with 88.2 million radio airplay audience impressions, 14.3 million streams, and 14,000 downloads sold. It’s a huge accomplishment for the song that initially debuted at No. 50 following its release on April 14.
Lizzo described “About Damn Time” as a song that “[allows] us to take a moment and celebrate our survival, and celebrate how far we’ve come” in the face of major traumas we’ve faced in the last few years. It replaces Harry Styles’ “As It Was” at No. 1 and it’s Lizzo’s second chart-topping single in the U.S. after “Truth Hurts”.
The triumph of this song was aided by a recent release of its parent album Special, which hit the shelves on July 15. It debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 with 69,000 equivalent album units, losing the top spot to Bad Bunny’s Un Verano Sin Ti.

]]>Beyoncé really kept us waiting for her new album Renaissance—but it was worth the wait. The lead single “Break My Soul” is the ultimate house banger that we’ll be dancing to all summer long. She’s yet to share more details about this record, but Variety reported it will feature dance and country-leaning tracks.
Lizzo gave us one of the songs of the summer with “About Damn Time”—and that’s just the beginning. This catchy track serves as the lead single from her upcoming album Special and we can’t wait to hear it in full in just ten days.
Several pretty exciting alternative albums are coming our way this month, but none of them compares to Maggie Rogers’s Surrender. It serves as the follow-up to her critically acclaimed debut LP Heard It in a Past Life and she gave us a taste of things to come with singles “That’s Where I Am” and “Want Want”.

]]>This project has been in development for quite some time, but it’s finally taking shape after Doug Pray, the executive producer of HBO’s The Defiant Ones, came on board as a director. In addition to collaborating with HBO, Lizzo also has a working relationship with Amazon, where her reality competition show Watch Out for the Big Grrrls premiered last year.
Lizzo’s documentary will chronicle all the ups and downs she went through over the course of the past ten years, and she hopes her story will inspire other young creatives to keep going.
“I’m so excited I get to share and relive my journey with my fans and HBO Max. From Cuz I Love You to my dramatic world tour, losing and gaining love, and creating my new album Special, y’all get to see the amount of time, patience, blood, sweat, and tears that went into this process,” said Lizzo in a statement.
This document is just a side gig for Lizzo since she’s currently focused on her upcoming album Special, set to be released on July 15. It was preceded by the lead single “About Damn Time” which peaked at No. 9 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

]]>The music video for Lizzo’s latest single opens with the singer fleeing a support group and showing off her dance moves everywhere from a light-up hallway and an office building to a swimming pool. It’s her first single since the release of the Cardi B collaboration “Rumors” last summer.
“About Damn Time” is another feel-good anthem in Lizzo’s repertoire, and she’s using it to spread positivity, together with the rest of her upcoming album.
“I had a lot of fear, and I had to do the work on myself, and this music is some of that work in turning that fear into love. I hope that when people listen to this album, it makes their day just a little bit better, a little bit more filled with love,” Lizzo told Zane Lowe.
“About Damn Time” serves as the lead single on her upcoming album Special and it’s set to be released on July 15.

Special was released on July 15, 2022, and it produced hit singles “About Damn Time” and “2 Be Loved (Am I Ready)”. Lizzo is in the running for five Grammys with this album, including album, record, and song of the year.
